American statesman, author, explorer, soldier, and naturalist who served as the 26th pres. 1901-1909
Dawes Act
Authorized the pres. of U.S. to survey American indan tribal land and divide it into allotments for individual indians.
Sharecropper
A farmer who works land for an owner who provides equipment and seed and recieves a share of the crop.
Carpetbagger
Name given to northerners who moved to the south after the civil war and supported the republicans.
15th Amendment
You can never deny a citizen based on race, color, or previous condition of servitude to vote.
Muckrakers
A journalist who uncovers abuses and corruption in a society.
Monopoly
Total control of a type of industry by one person or one company.
Vertical Integration
The combination in one company of two or more stages of production normally operated by seperated companies.
Social Darwinism
A philosophy based on Charles Dawin’s theories of evolution and natural selection.
Segregation
The seperation or isolation of a race, class, or group.
Militarism
A policy or aggressive military preparedness.
Flappers
Women who smoked cigarettes, drank alcohol, and wore makeup and sleeveless dressed with short skirts

The belief that god created the world and everything in it, usually in the way descibed in the bible.
