7 Main points about the battle of Gallipoli.
- It was a fail
- They wanted to force Turkey out of war
- Used old maps which landed them in the wrong location
- When they arrived at a beach they had to row to shore
- Turks put metal wires in the beach
- Turks had height advantages
- Although it was a failure, it displayed the characteristics of the ANZAC’S which helped build the foundation of Australian military.
What is a trench and list 5 conditions of the trenches during WW1
Trenches were large dugout in the ground which provided protection for soldiers.
- They were very muddy, uncomfortable and the toilets overflowed.
- Trench foot
- Very crammed
- Bombs could land in the trenches leaving rotting dead bodies
- This caused diseases to spread
