A worker highly skilled in a particular craft.
Who is Aten?
The sun god.
What is the barter system?
To trade goods rather than money.
What are canopic jars?
Pottery jars used to store the intestines, liver, lungs and stomach of the preserved body.
What is the delta?
The area where the river splits into seperate streams before flowing into the sea.
What is the demotic script?
Writing system formerly used in Egypt, that is a simplified form of the hieroglyphic system. Was found on the Rosetta Stone.
What is the meaning of dieties?
Plural for God or Goddess.
Who is Hapi?
God of the Nile flooding and fertility.
What are Hieroglyphics?
Picture-like symbols of which the ancient Egyptian written language was composed.
Who is Horus?
God of the sky and hunting, son of Osiris.
Who is Isis?
Goddess of rebirth and reincarnation, protector of the dead, wife and sister to Osiris.

A time period when dynasties had strong control over Egypt (c.2055-1650BCE)
Explain a myth.
A traditional or ancient story usually involving gods.
Explain mummification.
The process of preserving a dead body by preventing its natural decay; in ancient Egypt a body was mummified by removing internal organs (except the heart) and drying out the remaining body tissue; the mummy was then buried.
What is natron?
A mineral used to preserve bodies.

A city in northern Egypt where the Rosetta Stone comes from.

A stone coffin usually bearing sculpture of inscriptions.
Explain who a scribe is.
A person trained to in language and writing skills, employed to make written records.

The god of war, chaos and storms. Brother of Osiris.

It is in the shape of a triangle. It’s order is Pharaoh, Vizier/nobles/priests/officials, scribes, craftsmen/artisans, farmers then slaves.
