A period during which there is a lot of violence and killing especially by people who are in position of power

A sudden violent and unlawful seizure of power from a goverment; a coup

A committee of the national convention which formed the provisional goverment and war cabinet during the reign of terror

A fundamental legislative enactment which contains a compendium statement of a country’s private law
