what were the causes of World War 1 ?

A

Competition for colonies
-British and France built up empires by competing for and controlling colonies in different parts of the world, such as SEA and Africa
Arms and naval race
- Military capacities also rose in importance as the great powers sought to protect their empires from one another
Alliances
- The power also made Alliances with each other so they would have assistance in the event of war. By 1914, The main Alliances were the Triple Entente ( Britain, France and Russia) and Triple Alliance ( Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy )
Nationalism
- Nationalism is the desire by a nationality( a group of people of the same race, origin and religion) to become an independent country.

- On 28 June 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the future ruler of Austria-Hungary, was murdered during a visit to Sarajevo, the Bosnian capital. The assassin was a member of a Serbian nationalist group that encouraged Bosnian nationality.

What was the War Guilt cause about ?

A

Germany had to accept the complete blame for causing World war 1. According to article 231, The Allied and Associated Governments affirm and germany accepts the responsibility of Germany and her allies for causing all the loss and damage to which the allied and associated governments and their nationals have been subjected as a consequence of the war imposed upon thme by the aggresion of Germany and her allies.

What was Territorial Reduction about ?

A

Much of the land that belonged to Germany and Austriabefore the war was redistributed amongest the Allied power. Germany lost all her overseas colonies in Africa and Asia pacific. Germany lost Alsace-Lorraine and the profits from the Saar coal reigion to france.

A

There were tight limitations placed in Germany’s armed forces, which includes size of the army was limited to 100,000 men and the navy was limited to 15,000 men. They were not allowed to keep an Air force, tanks or submarines

What was reparations about ?

A

Germany has to pay compensation for all the damage caused in the war. The reparations demanded in 1921 were 269 billion gold Reichsmarks, the german currency at that time, or 6,600 billion pounds ( worth 96.41 million kilogram of fine gold at that point of time)
