Diabetic Neuropathy
A
- distal extremities, superficial burning pain (heat intolerance)
- Type II DM
- loss of balance
- impaired fine hand/eye coordination (ADL: jars, keys)
- GI: nausea/vom, dia/const, abdominal pain
- GU: difficulty/incomplete voiding

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
A
- numbness, tingling, pain in ulnar digits
- gradual onset
- ADLs of repetitive motion ipsilaterally
- DDx: carpal tunnel, Cx radiculopathy

Kidney Stone/Infection
A
- “waves of pain”
- sharp, severe pain @ flank area, radiating around groin
- sudden onset
- abdominal pain, nausea/vom
- change in bathroom habits
- usually low water intake
- possible lightheadedness/weakness

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
A
- hand numbness
- insidious onset, gradual
- median nn distribution area
- decreased grip strength
- occupation: desk job
- overuse syndrome

Angina/Myocardial Infarction
A
- pain after exertion, improving w rest (stable angina)
- radiates to inner arm or jaw (pre-infarct)
- pain lasting over 30 mins - more likely cardiac
