The Celts brought special soaps and perfumes and wore shirts and cloaks that were colourfully dyed and embroidered
What did The Romans bring to Britain?
Many main roads, Many Roman towns still important towns today - like Chester, York, Bath, Gloucester, Lincoln, Colchester and St Albans. Much of our language and some laws can be traced back to the Romans. They were the first in Britain to use calendars, coins, glass and bricks. And Introduced cabbages, peas, wine, apples, grapes, turnips.

What did the Anglo Saxons bring to Britain when they arrived?
The Anglos Gave England its name - ‘Angle-land’, later England. Anglo-Saxon is one of the key ‘base’ languages of English - bed, cat, dog, tree, lick, jump, hunt, fox and fart are all words of Anglo-Saxon origin. Many of our counties and towns were created and named by them - if your town ends in ‘ton’, ‘-wich’, ‘-worth’, ‘-burn’, ‘-hurst’ or ‘-ham’ then it was probably Anglo-Saxon originally

The Normans brought Built many fine castles, churches and cathedrals that still stand today. Over 10,000 words in our dictionaries come from these French settlers - e.g. royal, city, soldier, parliament and prince. Names like William, Stephen, Emma, Alice and Robert were introduced by them. They invented surnames… and introduced playing chess and conkers. Also introduced deer, pheasants and rabbits… and planted the New Forest to hunt them in! The Normans Introduced many new laws, traditions and customs still in use today. They also Changed the way the country was ruled and how people were taxed
