What does Democracy mean? Give an
example.
Democracy is a system of government where people vote to decide on issues. For example, the house of representatives votes on whether or not to pass different bills into law.
What does Revolution mean?
A revolution is a rapid era of change.
What does Tyranny mean?
cruel and oppressive government or rule.
What does Theocracy mean?
A theocracy is when the government is based off a religion.
What does Secularism mean?
Separate from religion
What does Oppression mean?
prolonged cruel or unjust treatment
What does Natural Rights mean?
The right to life, liberty and property that cannot be taken away
What does Monotheism mean?
A religion with only one god
What does Dictatorship mean?
One person or group of power has all the power and everyone else has very little rights

the influence of the Enlightenment, the

Revolution, and the Revolutions of 1848.
People no longer organize around monarch
but around the idea of nation-state. Henry
VIII, Catherine the Great, Louis XIV, Peter
the Great.
