our lines raised in the wind, our bodies fixed, anchored to the shore
metaphorical for human life- as humans we have ideas and dreams but we r tethered to laws and regulations
we think we r free but we aren’t
ironic- anchor is suppose to provide safetu yet here it prohibits freedom-> traps u to abide by society’s laws
religious allusion- Jesus’ crucifixion- how he was fixed on the cross even tho he was innocent-> prevented fro, continuing to spread good mews nc of society at the time laws
‘irredeemable’
religious connotations- Jesus often called the redeemer bc he saved man from sin- writer may be saying the 2nd coming is irredeemable bc mankind has become worse
alt interpretation- even if ppl come up with new tech we can’t save the environment
