It was significant because Just shooting Ferdinand and his wife lead to the out break of the first world war.

Conflict over alliances - because the alliance system brought in a substantial number of countries from Europe
What did the plotters of Ferdinands assassination hope would happen.
That it would provoke Austro-Hungarian Empire Hoping it would declare war on Serbia.

Women were expected to keep things going on at home while the men were away. Women were to support the war effort by working in voluntary organisations. How ever they were left to experience the consequences of war
