Q

Compare and contrast the different characteristics of the four belief systems and how each attempted to restore peace and order in society.

A

Daoism: Looked to nature to find peace and harmony. Acknowledging that there will always be good and bad but finding a way to balance it

Buddhism: Knowing the four noble truths. Finding nirvana. Following the middle path. Getting rid of selfishness, greed, jealousy, etc.

Confucianism: having strong relationships. Five key relationships. If you live according to virtues then all will be well.

Legalism: Law code is clear and public. All people under ruler are equal before law. Laws should reward and punish. System of law runs the state not the ruler. Mortality is not important. Strong hand is needed. Position of ruler, not the ruler himself, holds the power.
