Loyalty or love and devotion to your country
Definition of Unionism
Unionist’s prefer to be ruled by another country for example Irish Unionist’s want to be ruled by england
What is Home Rule?
The Irish Home Rule was a movement that campaigned for self-government.
Why were Unionists against Home Rule?
They were against Home Rule because that meant that they’d lose their perks and would mean the Penal Laws would be lifted and might be a step to independence
Why did Nationalist support Home Rule?
They supported Home Rule because it would mean the Penal Laws would be lifted and a self-government
What are the Penal Laws?
They were laws that limited Catholics freedom restricting occupation, land, education and property
