A

There is no law, several states have passed public playground legislation, California is the only state to mandate playground inspections. All other states have enforcement of playground safety criteria as a legal standard of care in court, although it may not be 100% attainable by public agencies

Is there any law?

A

Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in public places. Applies to all new and renovated playgrounds. Section 1008 of the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible design identifies criteria for design, construction and alterations of public play areas. The ADA references compliance with ASTM F1487, ASTM F1292 and ASTM F1951, where applicable
