Hazard Identification Part 3 Flashcards

1
Q

What are the standards for field tools to test for Crush and Shear Hazards?

A

Neoprene rods with a specific hardness rating. Note - There are 2 completely different tests for crush and shear, one for roller slides and merry-go-rounds and a different test for all other common crush and shear hazards

Q

What are the measurements for the crush and shear hazards?

A

For roller slides - 0.19” (3/16”) diameter dowel
For merry-go-rounds - 0.30” (5/16”) diameter dowel
Common Crush/Shear - 0.62” (5/8”) diameter dowel

Q

On Access/Egress Ramps, they are the most effective means of providing wheelchair access to elevated platforms

A

Maximum ramp slope 1:12
Maximum ramp run without a landing is 144”
Elevated accessible routes must have minimum width of 36”
Landings must have a 60” minimum diameter

Q

Arch Climbers used for access

A

Should not be the sole means of access to elevated platforms for pre-school equipment
Arch climbers, flexible climbers and rung ladders used for final access should not connect to the structure above the platform

3 Dimensional Climbing Net Structure

A

The mesh structure shall be arranged so there is no clear opening between flexible members with a vertical dimension greater than 72” and a diameter of 18” for ages 2-5, 20” for ages 5-12. Flexible components used for hand gripping shall be between 0.62”-1.55”
