How does the Aeneid link to Homer’s original works?
The Aeneid takes place directly after the Trojan War. The Iliad looks at what is happening in the Trojan War whilst the Odyssey looks at what happens to Odysseus as he leaves the war.
What countries made up the Roman Empire?
The main countries conquered were England/Wales (then known as Britannia), Spain (Hispania), France (Gaul or Gallia), Greece (Achaea), the Middle East (Judea) and the North African coastal region.
Why was Carthage a threat?
The Carthaginians were great traders in the Mediterranean Sea and as the Romans wanted to expand into this trading zone, a clash was inevitable.
