What is history?
History is the study of events that happened in the past and the story of human activity.
The Prehistoric period
The prehistoric period is before writing was used exp; The Stone Age. We rely on archaeology for this period.
The historic period
The prehistoric period is when people used writing exp; we know a lot about he monks in early Christian Ireland because they wrote books.
What’s the difference between prehistory and history?
The difference between them is that the prehistoric period is when they didn’t write books and the historic did.
What is a source?
It’s evidence, like pictures and documents that historians used to find out in the past.
How are historians like detectives?
They are like detectives because they have to gather the evidence to find out what happened in the past.
What type of sources does a historian use?
A historian uses two different types of sources; primary source and a secondary source
Explain a primary source.
A primary source is a source that come directly from the past, exp, if a historian was to write a history of your class, your copy books and reports could be examined.
Explain a secondary source.
A secondary source is a source that evidence that comes from a letter date. They are written after the event.
How do historians use sources?
Historians have to find sources of information that they want to study. They could interview people involved in the event. They could visit a place where written sources are stored.
Bias
Favouring one side or the other.
Accuracy
Sometime sources can be inaccurate. Many history sites on the internet have the wrong information.
Exaggeration
Making something seem more important than it really is.
Propaganda
Information trying to influence people’s opinions.
