Histology week 2 bs Flashcards
Why are globlet cells ususally clear?
mucous is washed out by the typical histological preparation process
where are globlet cell ususally found?
within simple columnar epithelium
What type of cell is a globlet cell concidered?
Unicellular part of glandular epithelium
What are the broad types of multicullular glandular epithelium?
Simple, compound,
Whar are the two types of simple multicellular glandular epithelium?
Tubular and acinar
what is the shape of the simple tubular glandular epi?
tube shaped
Where are the simple tubular exocrine glands found?
sweat gland, deep dermis, large intestine, stomach and colon
what makes the gland simple?
It has an unbranched duct system.
Where would an acinar exocrine gland be?
In a sebaceous gland of the skin, probably attached to a hair folicle.
What are the two types of compound glandular epithelium?
Compound acinar and compund tubuloacinar.
What shape is the secretory portion of the acinar cell?
grape shaped
Where would a compound acinar gland be found?
In breast tissue
Where would compund tubuloacinar gland cells be found?
submandibular gland, salivary.
What is connective tissue?
Any tissue that is not epithelial, muscular or nervous
Main feature of CT?
large inter/extracellular matrix
What are most genteral CT matrix dominated by?
ground substance:water glycosaminoglycans and more, and protein fibers
What are the two main types of protein found in matrix?
collagen or elastic fibers
what are the types of connective tissue in general?
Dense connective tissue, Non-dense CT
what are the 2 typse of dense CT?
Regular and irregular
Dense Regular CT
well organized collagen - tendon. Less fibers and stuff
Dense Irregular CT
poorly organized - has fibroblast, below deep to surface cells.
What is main character of non dense connective tissue?
it has much less matrix collagen
Areolar or loose CT
fine wispy in hypodermis between sheets of adipose, find plasma cells
Adipose
adipose cytes
