histology and intro to modalities Flashcards
3 major categories of modalities
thermal, mechanical, and electromagnetic
Name 4 types of biological tissue
epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscular, and nervous
What are 4 thingd inside the epidermis and dermis layers?
veins/arteries, sebaceous glands, sensory nerve fiber, sweat gland
What tissue of the body poses an inverse relationship to modalities?
Adipose tissue
What are the 4 sensory receptors discussed in lecture?
mechanoreceptors, thermoreceptors, nociceptors, and proprioceptors
What are 3 different heat transfer mechanisms?
radiation, convection, and conduction (most common)
What are 3 ways of conserving heat in the body?
Vasoconstriction, cessation of sweating, and shivering (muscle action helps warm body)
