Q
Describe how immunohistochemical stains work
A
- One antibody (rabbit antigen) added to detect the antigen
- A second antibody (goat anti-rabbit) which binds to constant region of the antigen and has fluorescent tag
5
Q
List examples of immunohistochemical stains
A
- Cytokeratin epithelial marker
- CD45 lymphoid marker
- Liver metastasis can be identified by immunohistochemical stain.
- CK7 positive CK20 negative colorectal cancer
- Used in infections (eg. herpes simplex)
