Q

what type of cancer is most common in the prostate - why? how does it appear under the microscope?

13
Q

what is the structure of the primary follicle?

A

stratified follicular cells
granulated cytoplasm
thick layer of glycoproteins - form the zona pellucida
stromal cells become the Theca

14
Q

what is the structure of the secondary follicle?

A

cells proliferate - forming the fluid filled antrum
follicular cell become flattened with growth
genulosa cells become the thickened cumulus ooporus
theca splits into the theca externa and theca interns - which produces oestrogen

15
Q

what is the structure of the tertiary follicle?

A

GRAFFIAN FOLLICLE - buldges from the ovary - surrounded by the cumulus oophorus
ruptures from the ovary to release oocyte into the peritoneal cavity - close to the fallopian tubes

16
Q

what is the structure of the cells of the cervix?

A

endocervix - columnar cells - secrete mucus
ectocervix - stratified squamous cells - protects uterus from vagina acid. connective tissue layer allows expansion during childbirth

17
Q

what are the parts to the fallopian tubes?

A

vibrate, infundibulum, ampulla, isthmus

18
Q

what are the fallopian tubes line by?

A

muscularis - smooth muscle

ciliated columnar epithelium

19
Q

what type of cells line the vagina

A

non-keratinising stratified squamous epithelium to protect the walls
connective tissue wall with fibrous and elastic tissue and smooth muscle - allow distension during pregnancy
