Q

Typically what are the characteristics of masticatory mucosa?

Q

Typically what are the characteristics of lining mucosa?

A

Much more loosely attached to periosteum with flexible submucosa and lamina propria

Allows tissue to move more freely and be manipulated

Non keratinised

Faster cell turnover

Q

Typically what are the characteristics of gustatory mucosa?

A

Fungiform papilla

Filliform papilla

Vallate papilla in V shape at posterior border of tongue, also has a valley histologically around the papilla

Foliate papilla on the edge of the tongue
