Labral Loading

A

Flex thigh and knee to 90, load into the femur (push down)

+Test = pain

A

Distract femur away from patient (innominate)

+Test = improvement of pain

A

Flex thigh and knee 90, externally rotate patient hip while loading into the socket

+Test = Pain

Apprehension Faber (1 of 3)

A

Flex, abduct and externally rotate thigh (figure 4 position). Posrteiror force applied at knee (push down knee)

+Test = pain/apprehension or subluxation of hip

Indicates = Labral Pathology

A

Patient’s hip is in figure 4 position. Patient externall rotates against resistance (i.e. patient move knee down, doctor pushes knee up)

+Test = Pain/weakness

Indicates: Gluteus medius pathology

Patient leg is in Figure 4 position. Patietn internally rotates while physician pushes down (i.e. against resistance)

+Test = anterior or medial groin pain

Indicates = Iliopsoas pathology

A

Patient is seated. Pressure applied to greater trochanter

+Test = patient “jumps” from pressure (pain)

Indicates: Trochanteric Bursitis

A

Both legs brought to chest while patient is supine. One leg held while the other is extended and lowered to table.

+Test = inability to fully extend/lower to table

Indicates: Hip flex contraction
