Mcc of hip d/o in elderly, its causes
A
Osteoarthritis
Causes:
Primary - intrinsic d/o
Secondary d/t
1. DDH
2. SCFE
3. Prev infection/inflammation of joint
4. Prev trauma
5. Acetabular dysplasia

Osteoarthritis of hip c/f
A
- M=F, >50yrs
- Starts in one joint, other side follows (commonly b/l)
- ↑Pain with activity, ↓with rest , nocturnal pain, stiffness(30mins in morning), deformity
- Exam:
●Antalgic gait
●Fixed flexion deformity
●IR>extension>abd>add>flexion>ER

Greater trochanteric pain syndrome c/f
A
- Pain - lateral hip radiating down to lateral aspect of thigh (post exercise)
- Inflammation of gluteus medius tendon or trochanteric bursitis
- Pain more at night, lying laterally
- Elderly, F
- Diagnosis - USG (Xray normal)
