Osteoarthritis
Causes:
Primary - intrinsic d/o
Secondary d/t
1. DDH
2. SCFE
3. Prev infection/inflammation of joint
4. Prev trauma
5. Acetabular dysplasia

Osteoarthritis of hip c/f

A
  1. M=F, >50yrs
  2. Starts in one joint, other side follows (commonly b/l)
  3. ↑Pain with activity, ↓with rest , nocturnal pain, stiffness(30mins in morning), deformity
  4. Exam:
    ●Antalgic gait
    ●Fixed flexion deformity
    ●IR>extension>abd>add>flexion>ER

Greater trochanteric pain syndrome c/f

A
  1. Pain - lateral hip radiating down to lateral aspect of thigh (post exercise)
  2. Inflammation of gluteus medius tendon or trochanteric bursitis
  3. Pain more at night, lying laterally
  4. Elderly, F
  5. Diagnosis - USG (Xray normal)
