What is the faber/4 test?

A

Used to identify the presence of HIP pathology by attempting to reproduce pain in the hip lumbar spine and SIJ region

The patient is lead in supine leg is placed in a figure for position stabilised opposite side of the pelvis apply a posterior force

A

Used to identify weakness of the hip abductors gluteus medius minimus and maximus

What is the modified Thomas test?

A

To assess hip flexion, more specifically anterior or lateral cupular restrictions or hip flexor tightness

Patient should be lying supine towards the end of the plinth maximally flex one knee using both arms to ensure lumbar spine is flexed and flat on the plinth. Patient then lowers the tested limb down while keeping the oven knife flexed.

What is the obers test?

A

To assess for a tie or inflame TFL or ITB

Patient inside lying position with tested side up bottom knee and hip flexed
Stuck behind the patient and stabilise the pelvis hold the top leg and flex their knees to 90° .

What is the adductor squeeze test?

A

To evaluate the strength of the abductor muscles through bilateral isometric contraction

45° flexion is the optimal test
Test can be performed in free positions 0° of 45° and 90°
Patient in supine place between the patient’s knees and make them squeeze together .
