DDH (late presentation)
A teenager presenting with a few weeks history of a painful limp. He has an antalgic gait and a positive Trendelenberg test. There is slight shortening and external rotation of the affected leg.
SUFE
A child of primary school age presents with an acute onset of pain in the groin and a limp the morning after a “bouncy castle party‟. The child is apyrexial and the hip movements are well preserved except for medial rotation..
irritable hip
A child at primary school presents with several months‟ history of a limp and groin pain. Because of stiffness in the hip it takes up to half-an-hour before she can walk each morning. There is a history of knee swelling the previous year, which settled with Ibuprofen. Examination reveals restriction of all hip movements and a marked fixed flexion contracture.
