Prone, locate the distal, posterior portion of the greater trochanter and ischial tuberosity. Press through the glute max and strum the fibers.

Anterior surface of the sacrum

Superior aspect of the greater trochanter
Piriformis actions
Laterally rotate the hip and abduct the hip when it is flexed.

Piriformis palpartion key
Prone, locate coccyx, PSIS and greater trochanter. Piriformis is found along the T line.
Sartorius origin
ASIS
Sartorius insertion
Proximal, medial shaft of the tibia at the pes anserinus tendon
Sartorius actions
Flex, laterally rotate and abduct the hip. Flex the knee and medially rotate the flexed knee.
Sartorius innervation
Femoral nerve
Sartorius palpation key
Supine, rest the foot on the opposite knee. Raise the knee towards the cieing and strum.
Gracilis origin
Inferior ramus of the pubis
Gracilis insertion
Proximal, medial shaft of the tibia at the pes anserinus tendon.
Gracilis actions
Adduct and medially rotate the hip. Flex the knee and medially rotate the flexed knee.
Gracilis innervation
Obturator nerve
Gracilis palpation key
Resist adduction and strum across the fibers.
Gluteus minimum origin
Gluteal surface of the ilium between the anterior and inferior gluteal lines.
Gluteus minimus insertion
Anterior aspect of the greater trochanter.
Gluteus minimus actions
Abduct, medially rotate and flex the hip.
Gluteus minimus innervation
Superior gluteal nerve.

Adductor magnus insertion
Medial lip of the linea aspera and the adductor tubercle.

Adduct and medially rotate the hip. Assist to flex the hip. Posterior fibers extend the hip.

Side-lying with the top hip flexed. Resist adduction and strum across fibers.

Flex and laterally rotate the rib, flex the trunk, tilt the pelvis anteriorly, laterally flex the lumbar spine.
