Describe the beliefs of a Hindu
The key beliefs in Hinduism are Brahman, Dharma and Atman. Hinduism is a polytheistic religion. Brahman is the belief in the Divine who is the main god and all the other gods , they believe in are different forms of Brahman, some of these forms include Krishna and Vishnu. Dharma is the belief that everyone has a sacred duty and should follow the 4 stages of life which include the student phase of life, the married and maintaining household phase of life, the retirement phase of life and the phase in life of giving up your materialistic desires. Finally the belief in Atman, which is the belief in reincarnation.
Where does worship occur for Hindus?
Worship occurs for Hindus in a temple, a shrine, at festivals and at a pilgrimage. The most common place of worship would be at a shrine in a Hindus home which are decorated with statues and pictures of their favourite God/gods. Another place of worship is a temple. Respect is shown in a temple by removing shoes and food is offered to gods. Some common Hindu festivals would be Diwali and holi and the Hindu pilgrimage is called Kumh Mela and it is sacred journey to 4 different locations. It also takes place over the span of 12yrs.
