It is one of the oldest writing systems in the world, second to Chinese.

A
Unlike the writing their Sumerian neighbors used, Egyptians Hieroglyph’s origin is much more obscure and unknown.

What was it’s purpose?
A
- To show the peasant of what the kings are doing - to show to everyone how well their country is doing, not always the honest truth.
- To immortalize a name
- The only way a rich person can get to the Afterlife safely there must be hieroglyphs in the room to assist them
