What is the poem about
There is a child’s game of hide and seek. A boy thinks he is clever by hiding in a shed. When he thinks he has won he emerges thinking he is the winner only to find out that his friends had abandoned him. The poem shows that children can be cruel.

It is a simile as well as sensory imagery. It enables the readers to imagine that they are the boy which increases empathy for him.
What is the caesura after the floor is cold suggest
It suggests there is a change in mood to some less friendly as the boy starts to realise how his so called friends are nowhere to be seen.
What device is the cold bites and what does it suggest.
It is personification which creates a threatening and hostile atmosphere. This could maybe reflect his friends behaviour.
What does the rhetorical question but where are they who sought you suggest
The boys initial confusion is followed by the realisation that the boys have abandoned him.
