before we dive into the city of hong kong let’s zoom out and look at the world as a whole. Our planet is facing numerous challenges such as climate change, population growth, and inequality. But as the saying goes, ‘In every crisis, there’s an opportunity.’ Technology and innovation present us with a chance to address these issues. now let’s come back to hong kong, for instance. The city has embraced the Smart City initiative, using technology to improve urban living, from waste management to traffic control.”

now that we had zoomed back in. Global solutions alone are not enough. They need to be adapted to fit local contexts. This is where the power of local communities comes into play. the international commerce centre of hong kong is a prime example of a sustainable skyscraper because of the use of new technology to optimize its energy efficiency contributing to a healthier environment for the local community

Global and local efforts complement each other. There are numerous situations where global ideas have been successfully implemented at a local level, and vice versa. The key is to adapt these ideas to suit local needs and contexts.

Each one of us has a role to play in this movement. Whether it’s by reducing our carbon footprint, volunteering in local community projects, or advocating for policy changes, we can all contribute to making our cities smarter, more inclusive and sustainable. a single person’s action can influence many other people leading to a communal movement
