The passing on of physical or mental characteristics
genetically from one generation to another.
Heredity
In genetics something passed down to offspring, like hair color, etc.
Dominant trait
The first allele is dominant and the second allele is recessive.
Recessive trait
A gene is the physical and functional unit of heredity.
Genes
One or two forms of a gene that rise by mutation and found at the same place on a chromosome.
Alleles
A set of characteristics of a individual resulting from the interaction of its phenotype with the environment .
Phenotype
The genetic constitution of a single organism.
Genotype
To the extent which something is probable, the likelihood for something to happen.
Probability
A pair of chromosomes that contain the same gene sequences.
Homologous chromosomes
A type of cell division that results in 4 daughter cells each with half the number of chromosomes of the parent cell.
Meiosis
A chromosomes involved with coming up with the sex of an organism.
Sex chromosomes
The record of decent of an animal, showing it to be pure bred.
Pedigree
Stores biological information.
DNA
They form the basic unit of nucleic acids such as DNA.
Nucleotide
Its ribonucleuc acid.
