Heredity Flashcards
The passing of genetic traits from parents to offspring.
Heredity
The trait observes in the first generation when parents that have different traits are bred.
Dominate traits
The Recessive trait has the rabbies
Recessive trait
basic physical and functional unit of heredity. Made up of DNA.
Genes
a variant form of a gene. Some have different forms.
Alleles
an individual’s observable traits, such as height, eye color, and blood type.
Phenotype
an individual’s collection of genes. The term also can refer to the two alleles inherited for a particular gene.
Genotype
the measure of the likeliness that an event will occur.
Probability
A pair comes from the mother and a pair comes from the father.
Homologous chromosomes
The daughter cells divide again in meiosis II, splitting up sister chromatids to form haploid gametes.
Meiosis
a chromosome involved with determining the sex of an organism, typically one of two kinds.
Sex chromosomes
the recorded ancestry, especially upper-class ancestry, of a person or family.
Pedigree
a molecule that carries most of the genetic instructions used in the development, functioning and reproduction of all known living organisms and many viruses.
DNA
A nucleotide is one of the structural components, or building blocks, of DNA and RNA.
Nucleotide
is a polymeric molecule implicated in various biological roles in coding, decoding, regulation, and expression of genes.
RNA
