Ài yè (moxa) (Primarily Warming): charred

A

Nature: Bitter, Acrid, Warm

Enters: Spleen, Liver, Kidney

Pharmaceutical Name: Artemisiae argyi Folium

English translation: mugwort leaf, artemesia

Actions: dispels cold-dampness, stops pain due to cold, stops bleeding, calms the fetus during pregnancy.

Indications:
Warms the wound and stops bleeding: for prolonged menstrual bleeding and uterine bleeding due to cold from deficiency. Because it calms the fetus it is used for restless fetus, lower abdominal pain, and vaginal bleeding, as in threatened miscarriage. Also used for infertility due to a cold wound.

Disperses cold and alleviates pain: for cold abdominal pain, especially menstrual pain.

Eliminates dampness and stops itching: decocted and applied as an external wash for a variety of skin problems marked by dampness and itching. And vaginal problems, skin eczema, yeast infections or trichomonas.

Fu Long Gan Aka Zao xĭn tǔ (Primarily Warming): charred

Stove center yellow earth (spleen)

A

Nature: Acrid, Warm

Enters: Spleen, Stomach

Pharmaceutical Name: Terra flava usta

English translation: oven earth, ignited yellow earth

Actions: Warms the Spleen and Stomach to contain bleeding, stops nausea.

Indications:
Warms the blood and stops bleeding: for bleeding associated with patterns of cold from deficiency, especially of the Stomach and Intestines. Orally or topically.

Warms the Stomach and stops vomiting: for vomiting associated with Stomach cold as well as morning sickness (Stomach Qi rebel)

Stops diarrhea: for chronic Spleen deficiency diarrhea. (yang qi)

Cook longer time: decoction.

Powder no problem.
