CT angiographic changes in dogs with acute pancreatitis: A prospective longitudinal study Vet Rad/ultraso 2020 French

A

The only statistically significant difference between the initial and repeat CTA examinations was the improvement of fat stranding on the repeat CTA examinations.
CTA performed at the time of admission is likely adequate in the diagnosis and evaluation of dogs with acute pancreatitis. Repeat CTA examinations are unlikely to add additional information in the absence of worsening clinical signs.

Proteinuria in dogs with gallbladder mucocele formation: A retrospective case control study JVIM 2021 Lindaberry

A

Gallbladder mucocele formation is significantly associated with proteinuria in dogs.

20
Q

Prevalence and impact of cholecystitis on outcome in dogs with gallbladder mucocele JVECC 2020 Rogers

A

Cholecystitis is a common comorbidity in dogs with gallbladder mucocele but was not associated with decreased survival.
28.8%) had cholecystitis

21
Q

Evaluation of coagulation parameters in dogs with gallbladder mucoceles 2021 JVIM Pavlick

A

hypercoagulable state although traditional plasma-based coagulation testing suggests that a complex state of hemostasis exists.

22
Q

Effect of clinical signs, endocrinopathies, timing of surgery, hyperlipidemia, and hyperbilirubinemia on outcome in dogs with gallbladder mucocele Vet J 2019 Jaffey

A

The presence of hypothyroidism or diabetes mellitus did not impact outcome in this study.
prognostic variables in dogs with GBM including total serum/plasma bilirubin concentration, age, clinical signs, concurrent hyperadrenocorticism, and the Pomeranian breed

23
Q

Clinical findings for dogs undergoing elective and nonelective cholecystectomies for gall bladder mucoceles JSAP 2021 Friesen

A

Elective cholecystectomy in dogs with a gall bladder mucocele in this study carried a low mortality rate and a relatively high frequency of minor complications.

24
Q

Prevalence of Clostridium perfringens alpha toxin and enterotoxin in the faeces of dogs with acute haemorrhagic diarrhoea syndrome

A

This study does not demonstrate increased prevalence of C. perfringens alpha toxin or C. perfringens enterotoxin in dogs with acute haemorrhagic diarrhoea syndrome compared with other dogs with AHDS or without

25
Q

Spontaneous abdominal effusion in dogs with presumed anaphylaxis Summer JVECC 2021

A

Abdominal effusion should be considered a potential sequela of anaphylaxis in dogs. Therefore, serial monitoring for presence or development of spontaneous abdominal effusion should be considered.

26

Q

Evaluation of blood thiamine concentration in hospitalized dogs with and without critical illness
Lane JVECC 2022

A

Approximately 92% of tB1 present in whole blood is measured as TDP (thiamine diphosphate). TDP concentration was strongly correlated with tB1 (R = 0.97, P < 0.0001). Thiamine concentration, represented by TDP, was not different at admission or at 72 hours in all dogs. TDP concentration was lower in septic dogs requiring surgery at admission (P = 0.044) and 72 hours later (P = 0.008), compared to dogs not requiring surgery. TDP concentration was not different between dogs with and without stable chronic diseases at any time point. Older dogs had lower TDP concentration. Positive correlations were seen between TDP and body weight, APPLEfast score, and WBC count. Critically ill dogs with lower admission plasma lactate concentration were more likely to have an increase in thiamine over time.
