Hepatitis B
Blood, Sexual Contact, perinatal transmission
Incubation: 45-180
Sources: contaminated needles, syringes, blood products; sexual activity with infected person, tattoo/body piercing with contaminated needles
Hepatitis A
Fecal/Oral Transmission
Incubation: 15-50 days
Sources: crowded conditions, poor hygiene, poor sanitation, contaminated food, sexual contact, IV drug use
Hepatitis C
Blood, high-risk sexual contact, perinatal transmission
Incubation: 14-180 days
Sources: blood and blood products, needles and syringes; sexual activity with infected partners
Hepatitis D
HBV must precede HDV
Incubation 2-26 weeks
CAN CAUSE INFECTION ONLY WHEN HBV IS PRESENT
Same sources of infection/spread of disease as hepatitis B.
Hepatitis E
Fecal/Oral, contaminated water supply
Incubation: 15-64 days
Contaminated water, poor sanitation, not common in U.S.
