A
- advise the king

-gathering of the house of lords, which only met 5 times in Henry’s reign and was a means of binding nobility to maintain national security

- mostly used financially- 2nd 3rd 4th 6th used for granting fifteenths and tenths raising £203,000
- first parliament granted tonnage and poundage for life

A
- Henry relied on increasingly to maintain law and order in the countryside
- responsible for: tax assessments, alehouse regulation, the investigation of complaints against local officials, and the maintenance of law and order.
