What 3 ways did Henry VII establish his reign
A
- Dating back the battle of bosworth to the day before his reign = anyone who fought for Richard III committed treason and he could confisicte their estates through the acts of attainder
- Spent a lot of money on cornation to make him look like a king, date coronation to 30th oct and first parliament = 7th nov showed he got his kingship through his own right
- Married Elizabeth of York after his coronation as well as her coronation being in 1487 showing no confusion also marrying into york = more supports unites lancaster and york

How did Henry deal with those who has a strong claim than him
A
- Strongest claim = 10 year old Edward Ear of Warrick, imprisoned him in a tower of royal residence
- Richard III had another nephew he named his heir - John De La Pole, earl of licoln (the son of his sister elizabeth), father was Duke of Suffolk and Henry saw them as enemies until Duke of suffolk proffessed his loyalty and henry invited him to join the council

How did Henry give those a second chance
A
If the pledged loyalty.
eg. the Duke of Northumberland = kept in prison until 1485 when he was released he was rewarded for his pledge of loyalty to govern the north of England

Jasper Tudor (uncle) became Earl of Bedford and later had the position of governing wales
Lord Stanley (henry’s step father) he mad earl of derby
