Q

How did Henry deal with the political challenges

A

-weak claim - married Elizabeth of York, had male heirs and built alliances with nations like Spain
-rival claimants - John de la pole allowed to swear loyalty to Henry and admitted to the Royal Court, Edward was imprisoned in the Tower of London despite being ten but apparently his conditions were lavish
-nobles - used parliament to declare him King the day before Bosworth (21st August) so all those who had fought against him were committing treason, he pardoned them but the charge could be brought back giving him control over them
-Simnel - Henry paraded the real Edward around london, met Simnel and supporters in the Battle of Stoke and defeated them. Simnel was captured and put in the palaces kitchens to work
-Warbeck - was captured in hampshire whilst he was trying to flee, was executed in Nov 1499 after he had tried to escape the tower
