Money

A

Henry was nearly bankrupt after spending most of money in war against France and towards his lavish lifestyle so being the head of the church meant he had all of their wealth monasteries also owned a quarter of the land in England so if Henry took control of the church he could shut them down and keep the land

A

Henry had a daughter Mary and needed an heir but the pope wouldn’t allow him to divorce Catherine of Aragon breaking with Rome meant he could get a divorce Mary Anne Boleyn who he hoped would give him a son
