  • the duketti were demoted and lost their lands, but kept their previous lands and titles
  • got rid of the title of marquis and the title of duke was restricted to the royal family
  • rebels were condemned as traitors

  • Henry only made three new peers and these were all members of the house of Lancaster
  • his eldest son was made prince of Wales, duke of Cornwall and Earl of Chester
  • his youngest son was made duke of Clarence and Earl of Arudnel
  • wanted to balance out the influence of Percies and Arundels

What rebellions occurred in England?

A
  • Henry’s forces defeated the discontented Percies at Shrewsbury 1403, and received submission from the duke of Northumberland
  • Archbishop of York declared opposition to the Lancastrian rule, was executed in 1405
  • defeated duke of Northumberland (Percy) at Bramham Moor in 1408
