A

*Hemispheric lateralisation in the brain refers to how the brain is split into two halves called the left and right hemisphere, both responsible for different functions and roles.

A
  • *responsible for language and logic
  • the two main lang centres are located in LH
  • brocas area which is responsible for production of language
  • and wernickes area, responsible for understanding language

  • can only produce basic words and phrases
  • but contributes to emotional context of whats being said

What is meant by contralateral wiring?

A
  • *hem lat also states brain has contralateral wiring
  • *LH receives info from RVF so controls right side of body
  • *RH receives info from LVF so controls left side of body
  • many functions are not lateralised; such as vision, motor and somatosensory cortex as they occur in both hemispheres
