Q
Hodgkin vs Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma
Differences (3 Gen Path, Char Cells, 2 Epi, Assoc, Pres, Prog)?
A
- Groups of Nodes: Localized single vs Multiple peripheral
- Extranodal Involvement: Rare vs Common
- Spread: Contiguous vs Noncontiguous
- Reed-Sternberg cells vs B cells (majority) / T cells
- Gender: MC in men (except for nodular sclerosing type)
- Age: Young adulthood + > 55 yrs (Bimodal distribution) vs 20-40
- Assoc: EBV (50% of cases) + Minimal Change Dz vs
HIV / Immunosuppression + Hashimoto’s - Pres: “B” s + s vs Fewer constitutional s + s
- Prognosis: Better (stage = strongest predictor) vs Worse
1
Q
Leukemoid Reaction vs CML- similarities (3) & difference?
A
Similarities = all cellular findings (3):
- WBC count↑
- Neutrophils↑
- Neutrophil precursors (eg band cells)↑= “Left Shift”
Difference =↑Leukocyte ALP in Leukemoid Reaction vs↓in CML.
2
Q
PV vs Reactive Polycythemia (2)
A
- Erythropoietin (EPO):↓vs↑
- O2 Sat: Normal vs Low (unless ectopic EPO production from RCC = normal)
3
Q
Multiple Myeloma vs Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia (2)
A
- ‘M Spike’ on SPEP: Due to IgG / IgA vs IgM
- Lytic Bone Lesions: YES vs NO
