Heatup and Cooldown Flashcards
1
Q
What cools the RCS from HZP to 68?
A
SDs from 557 to 350
RHR from 350 to 68
2
Q
What is subcritical multiplication?
A
A constant source of neutrons even though the reactor is subcritical and they should be decreasing.
3
Q
When is the reactor declared critical?
A
Increasing SR counts
SUR > 0
No rod motion
4
Q
Where do operators stabilize when pulling to criticality? Why?
A
10e-8 amps
Below POAH
5
Q
How is the plant cooled from:
- HFP to HZP
- HZP to 350
- 350 to 200
A
Rods / boron / SGs
SDs in steam P mode (will hit P12)
RHR
6
Q
High level summary from cold shutdown to HFP
A
Go solid in the PZR Draw a bubble - Heaters to Tsat - Letdown > charging - Bubble when level going down but P stable Turn on RCPs Use RHR to heat to 350 (T controlled by controlling how much RCP is removed) Isolate RHR and align ECCS Use PZR and SDs to increase P and T to HZP Use rods / boron to get to 15% Roll turbine Put control systems in auto Use rods and boron to go to HFP
