Heating Flashcards
What are the two heating elements
Space heating and water heating
What’s a convection heater
A convection panel heater mounted on a wall normally under a window take in cold air distributes hot air.
What’s a conduction heater
Something that heats something up with direct heat for example / underfloor heating
What’s Radiation heating
Heat is radiated from a source and warms objects near by for example electric heaters
How does underfloor heating work
By transferring heat into floor surface by conduction and then heats the room by radiant heat and convection
How do storage heaters work
They charge at night on off peak tariff. The energy is stored in fire clay blocks which release heat throughout the day
How do fan storage heaters work
With thick insulation so little heat is lost, it’s controlled by a thermostat and can be boosted through the day
How do panel heaters work
Through convection and radiation , there provided with a thermostat and time controls . Can be expensive to run
How do radiant/ infrared heaters work
The heat worms bodies not the air , useful in large areas / cold areas
Explain how a immersion heater works
They contain large amounts of water and are heated over a period of time. There are two heater elements bath and sink. Sink saves energy. Controlled by thermostat
