Q

How does conduction occur within a material?

A

Rapidly moving particles collide with adjacent particles, transferring a portion of their kinetic and thermal energy, until a point of thermal equilibrium is reached.

Q

How does convection occur in a fluid?

A

Heated fluid becomes less dense, rises, and carries heat, while cooler fluid becomes denser, sinks, forming a cyclical motion, completing the convection cycle. (also known as convection current)
