Heart Murmurs Flashcards
Two types of systolic murmurs
Holosystolic
Midsystolic
Cause of midsystolic murmur
Outflow stenosis (narrowing)
Two causes of holosystolic murmur
- AV insufficiency
- Septal defects
Two causes of diastolic murmurs
- Outflow insuficiency
- AV stenosis
Cause of a continuous murmur
PDA Patent Ductus Arteriosus
P wave x axis (width) for left atrial enlargement
> 0.04 sec
P wave y axis (amplitude) for right atrial enlargement
dog: 0.4 mv
cat: 0.2 mv
If a p wave to too wide or too tall, what does this mean
Too wide= left atrial enlargement
Too tall= right atrial enlargement
If the QRS complex has a higher than normal amplitude, what does this mean
Left ventricle enlargement
If something about the S waves and the three leads are abnormal
Right ventricle enlargement
