ECG Flashcards
Normal rhythms for canines (2)
Sinus rhythm and sinus arrhythmia
Canine sinus arrhythmia on inspiration
increased heart rate form decreased parasympathetic input
Wandering pace maker
Pace making activity in other parts of the atria than the SA node
Normal feline rhythms (2)
Sinus rhythm and sinus tachycardia
Sinus definition
Originating from the SA node
Dog and cat heartrates during sinus bradycardia
dog: <60bpm
cat: <150bpm
Causes of sinus bradycardia
- Heart disease
- Endocrine disease
- Hypothermia
- Drugs
- Increased vagal tone
Vagal tone significance
(increased vagal tone= decreased hr)
Part of the autonomic nervous system, specifically the parasympathetic nervous system, that affects many of the body’s organs
Atrial standstill
Reduced to no p waves
Three causes of atrial standstill
- Hyperkalemia >8.0 mEq/l
- Urinary obstruction
- Hypoadrenocorticism
