Heart Blocks Flashcards
PR interval greater than 0.20 seconds, R-R interval is regular; not treated unless symptomatic
first degree
atrial rate is greater than ventricular rate, R-R interval is irregular, PR interval lengthens until a P wave is blocked (no QRS following)
second degree, Mobitz type I
atrial rate > ventricular rate, no consistent pattern to blocking the P wave, PR is consistent when present, R-R interval irregular
second degree, Mobitz type II
PR interval varies, R-R interval regular, QRS may be widened
third degree, complete
which heart block require emergency treatment?
third degree
treatment for second and third degree heart blocks
atropine, dopamine, epi, transcutaneous pacemaker, permanent pacemaker insertion
