Heart and Pericardium Flashcards
pericardium
fibroserous covering of the heart
parietal serous pericardium
inner layer of pericardium; adheres to fibrous pericardium
fibrous pericardium
middle layer of pericardium
pericardial mediastinal pleura
outer layer of pericardium
phrenicopericardial ligament
continuation of the fibrous pericardium to the sternum and diaphragm
serous pericardium
a closed sac that envelops most of the heart
epicardium
visceral layer
pericardial cavity
between the parietal and visceral serous pericardium; contains a small amount of pericardial fluid
auricular face
surface of the heart facing the left thoracic wall
atrial surface
surface of the heart facing the right wall
coronary sulcus
lies between the atria and ventricles; contains coronary vessels and fat
interventricular sulci
superficial separations of the right and left ventricles
paraconal interventricular sulcus
obliquely traverses the auricular surface of the heart; begins at the base of the pulmonary trunk; adjacent to the conus arteriosus; contains the paraconal interventricular branch of the left coronary artery
subsinuosal interventricular sulcus
lies on the caudal aspect of the of the atrial surface ventral to the level of the coronary sinus that enters the right atrium; contains the terminal branch of the left coronary artery
right atrium
receives blood from the systemic veins and most most of the blood from the heart itself
sinus venarum
main part of the right atrium
right auricle
blind cranial part of the right atrium
