Q

What is a heart rate?

A

The number of times that your heart beats per minute. This means that each time your heart beats, it pumps oxygen to your body. If it beats too slowly, an inadequate amount of oxygen would be given to the organs in the body. When the heart is moving this fast it is not able to properly fill with blood. This means not enough oxygen can go to the organs in the body. It will decrease the amount of blood the heart pushes out to the body. Also tachycardia can be caused by a plaque in the blood vessel and this can reduce the passage way through the artery. If the passage is reduces, blood flow is reduced and so is oxygen to other organs in the body.
